This is for the first time that our team focuses both on acquiescence and on attitudes towards immigrants. The paper by Bogdan Voicu, Monica Şerban, Alexandra Deliu, Elena Tudor tests various measurement possibilities for acquiescence, and shows that empathy with immigrants is partially explained by a pattern to affirmatively answer questionnaire items. The study uses EVS 2008 data for Romania and is a first exercise, and conclude that

Due to acquiescence, when the wording is similar to the one in the EVS questionnaire, Romanians may appear more tolerant towards immigrants than they actually are.

The team prepares further articles to address the topic, this time in comparative perspective.
