Among the conferences to be held this year in Romania, three come to our attention, as being related to our group. We list them in the following.

Oradea. 9-10 of June.

Social sciences and the contemporary challenges

The generalist conference brings several issues of interest. Among others, there is a possible session devoted to “How Migration Changes Migrants and Non-Migrants”, organized by our colleagues Alexandra Deliu, Elena Tudor, and Bogdan Voicu. The deadline for paper proposals is 14th of March.

Bucharest. 1-2 September.

Facing a New "Age of Migration"? Methodological Challenges, Conceptual Questions, Political Entanglements

The Midterm Conference of the ESA RN 35 “Sociology of Migration” is co-organized by our colleague Monica Șerban. Submission of abstracts is scheduled until March 1st. A keynote leacture will be delivered by prof. Bridget Anderson.

Sibiu. 29th of September – 1st of October.

New Societies, Old Minorities / New Minorities, Old Societies?

The RSS Conference is likely to bring together some 200-220 social scientists. The call for sections is still open until 5th of March. According to the organizers, that include our colleague Horațiu Rusu, head of the RSS, important names in current social sciences will be present as keynote speakers. Since several sectioned organized by our colleagues are likely to be held, we will come back with more detailed information in due time. The event will be preceded by the Midterm Conference of the European Sociological Association RN36, with the topic “Social transformations: new challenges, practices, and critique” (28th-29th of September).

We will provide more information on upcoming conferences across Romania, if they are in our field of interest, and when we receive such information.
